Yesterday turned into a not so fun day for poor little Cameron (or me). The kids were down in the basement playing and I was trying to be productive when I heard Brecken's famous "I want something and they won't give it to me" bloody murder scream. I went down to calm Brecken down and remove him from the situation (which is the only way to end the screaming) when Matthew (who was home sick) said that Brecken was trying to turn on the treadmill and that Cameron's fingers got caught and that he had to pull Cameron's fingers out. Apparently Brecken had been turning the treadmill on (which I did NOT know he could do) and Matthew and Gavin kept turning it off when Cameron came over and his fingers got caught while it was on. Matthew said luckily he was there to pull them out before Cameron's fingers came off (which really could have happened). I called the pediatrician and said we were on our way in. Cameron is one tough boy but he could not stop crying and he couldn't hold still because he was in so much pain. They cleaned his fingers (3 fingers on his right hand) and put a dressing on it and wrapped it up - which he has NOT touched at all (when he got stitches he pulled the bandage off before we got out of the room and played with his finger all the time). I had to take him back in today to get it re-dressed and tomorrow we (Ed is coming with me) are taking Cameron up to the Burn Center at the University of Utah. Tomorrow is going to be a rough day - for Cameron and me. The doctor said they are great up at the Burn Center but that they are really going to clean it and that I will NOT want to be in the room for that. I am so glad that Ed will be in town and able to go with me. Normally I am fine to do all the doctor stuff with the kids, but not this time. Luckily, Cameron is a tough little kid and doing pretty good today. I hope we have a better night tonight and that tomorrow goes well and that he doesn't need surgery or skin grafts.

NO!!!! Poor baby! That makes me so so sad to hear and so sad to see the picture (especially because he looks a lot like Libby). You can just tell how much pain he is in. Little kids should not be allowed to get hurt!
Didn't the same thing happen to Maddi? Or was it Carlie? I think this happened to someone else also.
I am sooooo glad Ed can go with you. There really are just some things that are really hard for mom's to be in the room for but you want someone in there with your baby. When Libby had her spinal tap at 3 months - I had to leave but I could do it because my mom was there and I knew she was just as good as I was at comforting Libby. My distress was not going to help the baby.
Good luck tomorrow!!!
Oh my goodness! This is so sad. I guess with 6 kids there are going to be accidents expected, but it's still so sad when it happens! This will all be over soon and hopefully he'll not remember any of it! :( Hurray for Gavin and Matthew who saved the day!
That first comment (from Kathryn) was me - not my mom. We share so many computers in this house and half the time I forget to check who is signed into google. I think one time I sent someone a comment from Theodore Roosevelt because Spencer had to make a social media site for history for someone from the progressive area so he made Teddy Roosevelt a blog and apparently he was signed in! Oops. I really do need to check these things.
That stinks! Same thing happened to Maddi a couple of days before Braxten was born. It was quite traumatic for all of us. Hopefully he doesn't need to get skin grafts or anything. And yes, the cleaning process is quite brutal. Maintenance is an even bigger pain. Hopefully things go smoothly!
Oh no, Cameron!!! I love that you posted the story so all of us can keep Cameron in our thoughts and prayers. Poor little guy! Sounds like it was a good thing Matthew was home yesterday! Big brother to the rescue!
So So Sorry. that makes all of us mommies cry I am sure. I'm glad that you have someone that can go with you! Hang in there mom, we will keep little Cameron in our prayers. Poor baby.
