Kesley was SUPPOSE to get her TONSILS out 2 weeks ago - but she got sick over the weekend so they couldn't take them out. Then she was SUPPOSE to get them out TODAY. She had a cold over the weekend but I took her to the ENT yesterday and we were hopefully they could come out today. She had a good night (for her lately) and sounded good before we left. She didn't even mind when Daddy got her up.
By the time we got to the hospital, she sounded more congested but was so excited to get her tonsils out. On the way there she said, "Can the hospital take my tonsils out?"
She was so happy to be in her new Cinderella nightgown and slippers.
They took her back to her little room and took vitals and she got her hospital gown on. A lady came in that helps kids feel better about being in the hospital came and gave her a Webkin, a blanket, a doll in a gown like her that she could draw a face on, stuff to color with, etc. She even brought her a tiara and wand - all that she could take home.
Then the Anesthesiologist came in and asked all the usual questions and listened to her. He was a little worried so wanted the head guy to come listen just to be safe but said she should be fine to have surgery. NOPE. The head guy came in and did NOT like what he heard. So they had Dr. Heras come in and listen. They decided it just wasn't a good idea - too risky. NO SURGERY TODAY!
So they sent us home. But first Kesley got apple juice and Oreo cookies so she was happy!
I was extra bummed because I missed the boys leaving for their FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL for nothing. I was okay with it when Kesley was getting her tonsils out but now I am just upset (and exhausted). I called to re-schedule her surgery and between the doctor's schedule and ours, she can't have her surgery again until OCTOBER 2. That is SIX WEEKS away! Wish us luck!
