White Chocolate Magic Cookie Bar Recipe

I was going to post a different recipe today (Chocolate and Coconut Milk Cake - I will post it later) but after I made these yesterday for a friend that was having a rough day, I had to share - these are to die for! I know I shouldn't say that I love this recipe and that everyone that tasted them loves them as well - that gets your hopes up. But I can't help myself. These are really good! I found the recipe at lovefromtheoven.com. They have some super yummy recipes. If you are looking for a fun new treat, you really must try these. Tip - if you cut them in circles like I did (I used a biscuit cutter), you will have a lot of scraps for you to eat.

Pinewood Derby 2011

Not an exciting scrapbook page (I think I was tired when I made it and just needed to be done with it) but it was an exciting night for Dallin. He had so much fun making his car / roller coaster with his dad (Ed had a really hard time NOT doing it for Dallin - Dallin really did it himself). Dallin didn't win but he did win "Most Original Car". Way to go Dallin!

I made the treats for the Pinewood Derby. I found the idea online (but I can't remember where and it was just a random picture) when I googled Twinkie Car - I figured you had to be able to make a Twinkie into a car. They boys all loved it and I wasn't tempted at all to eat one. I was lucky that Easter was just a few days away so I could find the Bunny Peeps. I think they are super cute!

New Hairdo for Kesley

Having a little girl is SO MUCH FUN! Not that little boys aren't fun - but you can't put pretty bows in their hair and dress them in skirts and leggings. Last week, I finally decided to try to do a little more to Kesley's hair than just the 2 little piggy tails. I didn't do a great job but I don't think I did bad for my first try. I am excited for her hair to get longer and for her to sit and hold still better so I can try more things. But for now I will work on perfecting this hairdo!

13 Years (yesterday) and Counting!

April 24, 1998

Yesterday was our 13 year anniversary! Since it was Easter and we have 6 little ones, that trumped our celebrating - but that is okay (we did manage to take a picture of the two of us). What better way to spend our anniversary than with our kids!

Fruit Tart Recipe CORRECTION (sorry)

I am so sorry! I left off 2 ingredients to the glaze. I left off the 4-5 limes and 1/4 cup sugar. The crust and filling are correct - just the glaze was wrong. Please forgive me! And enjoy!

Kennedy Space Center - Florida Trip Day 3

Wow am I way behind. I did these pages weeks ago but life got in the way of posting them (at least I had them done). Anyway - our third day in Florida was so much fun. We took a break from DisneyWorld and went to the Kennedy Space Center (it was just an hour away). It was so much fun to see all the old space ships and how SMALL they were. We watched a IMAX 3D movie on the International Space Station, went on a simulator ride, ate lunch with an astronaut, and even got to go out close to where they had launched the Space Shuttle just a few days earlier. We could have spent hours and hours more there!

That night we met up with Ed's brother's family that lives in Florida. They were SO NICE to drive 3 hours to eat dinner with us and hang out with us! We met them at Downtown Disney and ate dinner and got ice cream at Ghirardelli's. Then we went back to our hotel and had a GREAT time hanging out. I still can't believe they drove that far to see us - we are so glad they did!

Cameron - GOOD Burn Update

I was SOOOOO extremely nervous about Cameron's visit to the Burn Center today. To me, his fingers look HORRIBLE (but what do I know - I do know they look better but I didn't know how much better they looked). The doctor was very happy about how good they look. His pinky finger was all better (but we already knew that). His middle finger was "healed" according to the doctor. I wouldn't say healed - he meant it wasn't an OPEN WOUND anymore. So I don't have to wrap that finger anymore. His ring finger looks a lot better but is still open some - but the doctor is confident it is going to heal so
NO SKIN GRAFTS!!!!! I can't even begin to explain what a relief that is! I can't keep this little guy to keep anything on his fingers as it is (last night we SEWED a sock to his pjs so he couldn't pull everything off) so I was really worried about dealing with all of that - but mostly worried
about the pain he would be in.

We don't go back for a month, unless there are problems or concerns or if I start to feel scarring in his fingers (hope I can figure out what that feels like). For the next little bit, I have to keep wrapping his ring finger and have him wear the splint at night. He still needs to wear a sock on his good hand to encourage him to use his right hand - but they but a new tubing/wrap thing over his bandages that we HOPE he will leave alone. I do have to clean and re-dress it once a day (or more when he pulls the bandages off). There are exercises I have to do with his fingers to make sure everything keeps working correctly and I have to try to get him to use his fingers more. But considering all that could have happened, this is nothing. I don't mind doing all of this at all. I am just so happy he still has fingers and that he doesn't have to have skin grafts! Happy day!

Spring Break - Day 1 at the Zoo

Last week was our Spring Break. I tried to make it a fun week - even with rain (not as much as was predicted) and Cameron's visit to the burn center and Ed being out of town for work and just the normal craziness that comes with having kids.

The first day was a beautiful day so we got up and went up to the Hogle Zoo (I think we were about the 15th car there - we would have been there sooner but Kesley threw-up in the car so we had to stop and clean that up, so she didn't have as much fun as the others). I love that zoo. It isn't huge (and is actually under construction - I can't wait to see what they are doing) but the animals are close to each other (not lots of walking) and easy for the kids to see. The day we went was perfect because it was still a little chilly (notice all the jackets in the pictures) so all the animals were out and about - I never knew there were 4 tigers at the zoo and that there was a bridge they could walk on that we could and did walk under.

My favorite part (besides being with all my kiddos and my mom) was the gorilla. For some reason that is what Gavin really wanted to see. So that was one of the first things we did. When we got there (the gorillas were inside because it was cold) no one else was around. As soon as the big gorilla saw us he walked right over to the big window, put his nose right by the glass and stared at my boys. They LOVED it! It was so cool! The boys had a "staring contest" with the gorilla - for about 5 minutes! Then he posed for pictures with us (not really but it sure felt that way). We ended our little trip with ice cream - even when it is chilly out, soft-serve ice cream is yummy!

Double Chocolate Waffles Recipe

Do you need a yummy Sunday breakfast? Here it is! We actually made these last Sunday for dinner and joked that we had dessert for dinner - which the boys loved. Ed said that meant we would have vegetables for dessert. Any way - they are super yummy! My sister made the recipe first - she found it in "Our Best Bites" cookbook. Click here for to the recipe on their website. You will also find a recipe for a Berry Sauce - which is very tasty too but I didn't take a picture of it. We put strawberries and homemade whipped cream on the waffles along with Coconut Syrup (which we brought back from Hawaii - so yummy!). Enjoy!

Sneaky Little Guy!

When Cameron takes naps, he has to wear his splint to help keep his fingers from curving as they heal. Today, when I put him down, I figured I would just leave the sock (which is safety pinned to his shirt) on his left hand - I was being lazy. Apparently I can't do that! He figured out how to pull his whole arm up through his neck hole and out of his shirt (notice the sock is still attached to his shirt in the pictures). He was pretty proud of himself. Tomorrow, the sock is going over his splint for his nap!

Cameron Burn Update

Oh - Cameron is such a happy guy - okay, maybe not like he was 9 days ago, but happy considering what has happened to him. He is tough but he is also a lot crankier than usual - but who can blame him.

On to the update - I took Cameron to the Burn Center at the University of Utah today. They said his fingers look a lot better but they want to give his fingers another week to see if they will heal on there own. So no skin grafts, yet. We will find out next week if he needs skin grafts.

For now, I have to re-dress and change his bandages ONCE a day (yeah - not twice anymore) and he only has to wear his splint when he is sleeping. I also have to do exercises with his fingers 3 times a day and try to get him to use it more often.
He loves to take his bandages off so I can't just leave the splint off
- I have to put a sock on his left hand so he can't pull the bandages off his right hand. But I can't just put a sock on it - I have to safety pin the sock to his clothes.

So for now his right hand is bandaged and his left hand has a sock on it and we have to wait another week to find out if he needs skin grafts.
