Our friend Angie turned 40 this month and for her BIG party, she wanted an adult swim party! So that is what we did. Of course, the weather didn't want to cooperate but we just ignored the weather and swam anyways.
Here is how I decorated (pictures aren't great - so hard to get a good picture this time of day):
Our new favorite way to do drinks is a Soda Bar (or Dirty Diet Coke Bar). We had all kinds of drinks with different flavorings to add - so fun!
Angie's favorite food, what she always orders at restaurants, is PASTA. So we had a PASTA BAR for dinner (pre-food pictures).
Looked cooler in person - lighting is horrible here - but I thought it turned out great!
I made signs for all the food and "Forty & Fabulous - Happy Birthday" signs to put up - just like the invitation. We also had some of Angie's favorite candies out for everyone.
25-30 people were coming and it is hard to eat pasta if you aren't sitting down so I set up tables in the family room (so glad I had planned on us eating inside - it POURED rain all night).
More pictures of the whole set-up - I think I was hoping the lighting would get better.
Everyone helped with the food - and it was yummy. 3 different noodles and 3 sauces for the pasta bar - along with chicken, meatballs, steamed veggies, artichoke hearts, and sun dried tomatoes.
We also had a yummy salad!
And Garlic Bites - mini rolls with garlic seasoning on them. Yum!
Here is the sign I made for the pasta bar - sorry about the glare from the flash.
For dessert, WAFFLE LOVE came and made us the BEST waffles ever! We were going to do it outside, but due to Mother Nature, we had WAFFLE LOVE set up and serve in the basement.
The boys had fun playing all the games.
Here is the birthday girl herself - Happy Birthday Angie!
More playing!
The boys got pretty serious with the ping pong!
Here are the girls - missing those that couldn't make it!
Here is the WAFFLE LOVE guy - everyone loved his mustache.
The ladies hanging out while the MEN play!
Lots of us were challenged to do the ALS ice bucket challenge - so we ignored the rain and got ice water dumped on us and swam!
The water was warm - the hot tub felt great. I still thought it was cold! But fun!
Boys being boys!
We had planned on watching a movie in the pool - we didn't at first because of the rain but then we decided to watch it anyways. The rain started to get bad so those that toughed it out brought an umbrella into the pool - love it!
Despite the weather, I think it was a fun party for all - I hope Angie LOVED it and felt LOVED! We love you Angie! Happy 40th!
