I can't believe Kesley FINALLY got to get her tonsils out today! We have been waiting FOUR months for this day! We have had her surgery scheduled several times but had to cancel & reschedule because Kesley kept getting sick (duh - she couldn't sleep because her tonsils were so huge - of course she got sick a lot)!
**Scroll carefully - I do show her tonsils in this post. But I warn you a couple of pictures before I show them.**
Kesley had to be at the hospital by 7 so we left our house at 6:30. Kesley, as usual, couldn't breath in the night so she woke up and got in bed with us. So when I got up at 6, she got up too. She was SO EXCITED to go get her tonsils out! We were just as HAPPY!
She was so good waiting to be taken back to surgery!
She loves her thumb! I love that she rubs her nose while she sucks her thumb!
I love American Fork Hospital! They have a lady whose whole job is to make little kids not be scared! She brought Kesley a doll in a hospital gown that she could draw on. Then she showed her the mask and how they would put it on her face. She also brought Kesley a tiara and wand. The wand Kesley used to open the doors on the way to surgery - which really helped her not be scared!
Her she is on her way to surgery! She doesn't even look scared!
She was gone just over an hour. They said she woke up in recovery and looked at them - no sounds, no crying, no tears. They asked if she wanted to see her mommy and she nodded yes. She stayed awake long enough to get back into the room we were in and look at us. Then she was out for another 30-45 minutes!
I was so happy that she was sleeping! Poor girl hasn't slept well in MONTHS!
When she finally woke up I thought she would cry and be upset but she woke up just fine - a little confused but not upset at all!
**Scroll down carefully - I am about to show her tonsils NOT IN HER MOUTH! And they are gross!**
I will say I was happy when she wanted me to get on the bed with her and cuddle!
The doctor brought us Kesley's tonsils. She said, as you can see, that they were HUGE! Definitely kissing tonsils. The doctor said she did not have much of an airway.
Kesley does NOT have a big mouth so imagine both of those in the back of her mouth - no wonder the sweet thing couldn't sleep!
The little black thing about the tonsils in the picture below is one of Kesley's ear tubes that the doctor cleaned out of her ear while she was cleaning out her ears - how weird is that - the doctor cleaned out Kesley's ears! She gets ear infections all the time so the doctor was trying to get all the crap out. I sure hope it works!
Kesley did so well! She drank juice and water, ate part of a blue slushy, and ate a whole little container of chocolate pudding. She NEVER cried! She ALMOST got a little upset when they took the IV out - but instead of crying she just squeezed my finger. What a tough little girl!
The nurses LOVED her so much that they gave her TONS of princess stickers. They said she was the patient of the day and that they wished all their patients were that good! Let's hope it carries over to tomorrow!
While Ed and Kesley waited in the car for me to get her prescriptions, she put her stickers all over herself!
Carol and Annie brought a fun prize over for Kesley for when she got home - she was so excited!
She spent the rest of the day resting, coloring, playing with Princess stickers and . . .
watching CINDERELLA for the first time!
I kept hoping she was going to fall asleep but she didn't! Not until we put her in bed at 7:30. Sure hope she has a good night - but if not, I will just be happy we are on the road to feeling better! What a happy day - it was a LONG day but such a HAPPY day as well! Sure LOVE this little girl!

Oh Michelle, she is such an adorable little girl. What a doll baby. Her tonsils are ridiculous. I'm so glad they are out and hope she can breathe and sleep better now. She is a princess!
Hooray! That picture is pretty nasty--seems like a good thing those suckers are gone!
What a sweet girl!
Wow! Looks like she did great! What a little sweetie. It's so sad she hasn't slept well yet, hopefully she will recover quickly and catch up on some Zzzz's!
No wonder she had difficulty breathing...WOW!
So glad she finally got those out!
