What a GREAT day! I have the BEST family and friends anyone could hope for! Today was the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at Liberty Park in Salt Lake City. In case you missed my post about it, my sister was diagnosed with breast cancer a few weeks ago and is having a mastectomy next week. So, in her honor, we formed TEAM AWESOMENESS and had these shirts made (I still have some more if you would like one - they are $10). One of Gina's friends started calling her the one-boob wonder and Gina loved that name so that is what we used for the t-shirts. I ended up needing to order some more shirts but I had to get them from somewhere else so we have 2 different colored shirts. It was funny how many people took pictures of us and our shirts - mostly just our shirts!
How AWESOME are my friends! A bunch of them got up VERY early, on a Saturday morning, over Fall Break, to come and walk with me and some of my family to support my sister.
I think we ended up with 23 members of TEAM AWESOMENESS at the walk today! One of Gina's college roommates came (she even brought her 2 little ones with her in a stroller). My sister-in-law Cynthia (Ed's sister) came! My sister-in-law Michelle (married to my brother Scott) came up from St. George a day early so she could walk & her sister and one of her friends came as well. 3 of my cousins came and 2 of their daughters and 2 more of their friends came! And of course my mom! What awesome people!
Here are the Jolley ladies!
Here we are starting the walk!
I have such cute friends!
I think they said that over 6000 people came out to walk and support those affected by breast cancer!
I don't think it was really 5 miles - maybe 5k - but I'm not complaining!
Here is TEAM AWESOMENESS at the "finish line".
Here we are back at my car having some snacks. My mom made cinnamon rolls for everyone. I made some muffins and cookies for everyone and we had juice - had to do something to thank these great woman for coming out to support my sister - it wasn't much of a thank you but it was a start!
I am so lucky to have such amazing women in my life! And I am so lucky to have a strong, amazing sister who is going to BEAT cancer, AGAIN! We LOVE you!
