Brecken Update - Procedure Scheduled

What a LONG week. Here is the update from first thing this morning:
Had a great night! Slept through assessments in the night. Woke up a little after 8. I could hear his breathing just barely starting to get bad. A minute later his chest was caving in to try to get air in. I got his nurse. Brecken could barely talk and his chest and neck were really retracting (I think that is the right word) - after a minute he started acting like he did in the AF ER right before he stopped breathing. He couldn't get any air in or out and turned blue. Gave him a breathing mist treatment and racemic epi treatment and is doing better. ENT specialists are coming to see him soon. Not going home any time too soon.

Not too long after that, the ENT doctors came in and gave me the update:
Brecken is scheduled for a MICROLARYNGOSCOPE and BRONCHOSCOPY later today (he is going to be the last surgery of the day so not until between 4-6). They are going to have to put him completely under. They will put a little camera down to see if there is a foreign object or something else going on that is causing all of this. So not actual surgery unless they find something - they just have to put him out to do this. That also means no eating or drinking - that does not work for a 4 year old. It is going to be a really long day. Then with these procedures, there is the possibility of more swelling in his throat for 24 hours.

So, I am pretty sure we will be here for a while. Just SO SO GLAD we didn't go home yesterday or even this morning before this happened. Even the doctors said that they have "never been so glad a kid didn't go home yet" and that there really is something to "mother's intuition".

Good job, Michelle! He's in the right place for now. I wish I was closer to you so I could offer my help with your other kids!

So sorry you guys are going through this. I'm glad he is where he can get good medical care! Hope they can figure out what he needs to be healthy!
