MAGIC Birthday Party for Matthew & Gavin

What a SUPER MAGICAL party we had for Matthew and Gavin (way back in May)!  Summer gets so crazy (hence the reason I haven't blogged about this yet) so I combined their parties and had it in the middle of May (before either of their birthdays).

We had a BALLOON-MAGICIAN come to their party (we had seen him at Breakfast with Santa at Thanksgiving Point last year).  I wasn't sure what to do with the BALLOON part of that, except to decorate with lots of balloons, so we had a MAGIC party - complete with capes and hats and wands for all the guests.  Here are Matthew and Gavin showing us their stuff!
I am going to be lazy and not re-order the pictures into a better order - there are way too many pictures to do that.

Of course, at a party you MUST have FOOD!
I made these fun cupcakes that each had their own MAGIC HAT stand (that I made).
We had MAGIC WANDS - pretzel sticks dipped in white chocolate.
We had MAGIC POTION to drink (red gatorade).
One of the things the kids got to take home was a HAT FULL OF "TRIX".  I found these fun little hats online (I think at Oriental Trading).
They got to take one when they left.
During the party, we taught the kids how to do FOUR simple MAGIC TRICKS that they could do at home.  So they each got a bag to put the tricks in.
We had popcorn for during the MAGIC SHOW.
I used this fun backdrop and banner for behind the MAGICIAN during his show - loved having it there instead of my fireplace.
I decorated the entry way a little (the banner says "MAGIC").  The boys got their hats, wands (that I made) and capes when they first came in.
The twins had to join in on the fun!  They loved saying "Hocus Pocus" and making things disappear.  Cameron would get really upset when things didn't disappear.
Matthew and Gavin having fun together!
Our cool BALLOON-MAGICIAN will bring a 6-8 foot tall balloon sculpture for the birthday kid but since the party was for 2 kids, he made each of them a 3-4 foot tall BALLOON SCULPTURE.  They were AMAZING!

Matthew wanted SONIC!  How COOL is that!
Gavin wanted a T-REX!  So AWESOME!
The balloon guy made BALLOONS for each guest - and was so nice to first make them for my little ones.
Kesley wanted CINDERELLA.
Cameron wanted an ORANGE DOG.
These two LOVED the party - until I had our sweet babysitter take them away!
Brecken wanted BUZZ!
More of Gavin's T-Rex!
When the party guests arrived, they got their hats, wands, and capes on and went to get their balloons made.  The boys were mesmerized!  They all just stood and watch him for the longest time!
And more Matthew and Sonic!
The boys all loved their balloons and Sonic!
Seriously, do you ever see 8-10 year old boys stand in one place for very long?  It was GREAT!
Thor and the Hulk!
A gun.
Spiderman
Darth Vador
Gavin - excited to open presents.
Storm Trooper!
Shark
Fish in a fishbowl
"Bag of Tricks" for home
Me teaching them how to do the tricks - I will add links later to the tricks - super easy and fun!
Matthew excited about his presents!
Matthew and his friends!
Gavin and his friends!
Getting ready for food!
Braden and Josh
Time for the MAGIC SHOW!!!!!
This guy did a GREAT job!
Once again, the boys were mesmerized!
Juggling
A chicken on his head - the boys LOVED it!
Gavin and Matthew got to help!
For the final part of his MAGIC SHOW, we went outside and he JUGGLED FIRE!  Really cool!
While the boys were waiting for their parents, the balloon guy made them all swords!
I must say, I think the party turned out great!  And as you can see, I was EXHAUSTED afterwards.  I had to rest for a minute before I could clean up.  But my boys were happy so it was all worth it!
