What started out as a FUN afternoon swimming with Carlie and Berkeley (Gina's kids) on their last day at our house . . .
going down the slide . . .chicken fights . . .
jumping off the diving board . . .
Carlie & Gina hanging out . . .
swimming with noodles . . .
just having fun . . .
UNTIL . . . Matthew did a BACK FLIP!
He had done them before, so we are not sure what happened. But we do know that he did something WRONG! This picture is a split SECOND before he HIT HIS HEAD on the diving board.
And this is a split SECOND after he HIT HIS HEAD. Just so glad he didn't pass out - that would have been HORRIBLE.
He was screaming in PAIN when he came up - and then when he saw the BLOOD RUNNING DOWN HIS HEAD, he got SCARED.
To be safe, I took him to the the doctor. So glad I did! He needed STAPLES! So they cleaned him up and put NUMBING GEL on it.
After about 20 minutes, plenty of time for his head to get numb, Dr. Whiting came in to take care of Matthew. First he had to get it to stop bleeding - which took a while.
Matthew was terrified about the staples. He thought they were going to use a BIG STAPLE GUN like Ed has at home. So when Dr. Whiting said he had already put a couple of STAPLES in and he didn't feel a thing, he SMILED!!!!! Boy was I HAPPY to see him SMILE!
Dr. Whiting ended up putting in SIX STAPLES! They have to stay in for 10 days. He can do anything he wants, even swim. He just has to be careful brushing his hair - not a problem since he doesn't like to brush his hair. So glad he is going to be okay! He is one TOUGH boy!
