I made this cake for Matthew's 4th grade class Spring Party (which was also to celebrate his teacher's birthday). I was so excited when the room mom said it was a Spring Birthday party! This cake, well, the inside of this cake, came to my mind IMMEDIATELY. I had seen it on Pinterest and was just waiting for an excuse to make it - and this was the perfect excuse! Just wait until you scroll down a little and see what is on the INSIDE! So fun!
I told the room mom that I would also bring little water bottles for the kids to drink - but I couldn't take in plain water bottles - I had to make them fun!
I ended up using SIX cake mixes for this cake! I did this in part so Matthew's teacher could take home the top part for her and her husband.
I LOVE how the Skittles brighten up the cake and I love the signs that I printed from one of my scrapbook kits.
Here is the INSIDE of the cake! POLKA DOTS!
I was pretty happy with how it turned out! I just wish there were MORE polka dots and that the orange was brighter and I wasn't a huge fan of the pink. Next time I will put the polka dots right next to each other.
I'm sure you are wondering how I did this - trust me, I was curious when I first saw this. HERE is my pin to it on Pinterest. And HERE is the link to the actual website and instructions. So the short and quick version of how to make the polka dots on the inside is to first make CAKE POPS - but make them in a cake pop pan (not the kind you make with a cake that has frosting in it). But don't over bake them - just bake them so they are barely done. I used the same pan as the lady used but I cooked mine for 14 minutes.

I wish I could have taken more pictures of the inside of the cake but the 31 9 and 10 year olds did NOT want to wait for their cake! The picture above is of the middle layers. The picture below is the bottom layer.
This picture is the last little bit of cake - but the purple was my favorite so I had to take one last picture. I can't wait to try this cake again but with
LOTS and LOTS more polka dots!
