In Need of New Shoes!

I was putting the kids shoes away last night and couldn't believe what I saw! Dallin is desperate need of new shoes - I had NO idea! I couldn't believe he didn't tell me how bad his shoes were.
When I asked him why he didn't tell me, he said,
"I just wanted to make them last as long as possible so we could save money."

What a sweet, thoughtful boy! We TRY to stress that things cost money and that they can't have something just because they want it. I guess we need to be a little more careful. So, I explained to him that he can tell us when he needs new shoes, that we can afford to buy him new shoes and he doesn't need to worry about it or be upset about it. He teared up! I will go buy him some new ones as soon as Ed gets back in town (he did get back from Paris but he left again today - but he will be back in time for Cameron's surgery on Tuesday).

Wow! Those are pretty bad. Did you tell him he definitely succeeded in making them last as long as possible? It looks like they're ready to fall right off after about one more game of recess kickball.

I have a couple of kids that need new shoes, too, but it's the kids that are in school all day and the idea of dragging everyone to the shoe store after they get home from school just makes me tired so we haven't done it. I guess I should hurry up before their shoes look like Dallin's.
