I'm not sure I have ever seen Dallin more excited! This was his (and my) first science fair. Ed helped him with his actual project (which Dallin picked - seeing what happens when water freezes - seems simple but I guess very age appropriate) and he even got a little help from his Aunt GG (who left her Dr. Pepper on my deck in the middle of winter and it EXPLODED). I helped him with his poster (but he really did the work). I had Dallin all prepared to just get a purple participation ribbon - this was his first time and it was really practice for when they have to do them in 5th and 6th grade. So, we were both very surprised when we went to the Science Fair and there was a 4th Place ribbon on his project! Dallin's face just lite up! He couldn't wait to tell his daddy (who was out of town for work). We thought he got 4th place for his grade (3rd grade). But the next day when the principal announced the winners, Dallin was announced as winning 4th Place OVERALL! I think Dallin is still smiling ear to ear. The only problem is trying to beat that next year! And he may never let me throw away his project! Oh well, small price to pay to see the smile on his face!
